Dr. Isa El-buba Foundation (DISEF) Launches 2024 Youth Leadership Clinic in Jos, Inspiring Transformation Among Secondary School Students.
The Dr. Isa El-buba Foundation announces the 2024 Youth Leadership Clinic, a powerful, one-day event dedicated to shaping the next generation of leaders and visionaries. Held on October 31, 2024, at EBOMI Towers in Jos, this initiative, themed “Becoming the Best Version of Yourself,” will engage secondary school students in a day filled with mentorship, training, and inspiration. The clinic is designed to equip young minds with the skills and knowledge they need to drive meaningful change in their communities.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Mrs. Deborah El-Buba Atubi, Executive Director of the Foundation, emphasized the importance of the clinic in nurturing a resilient, socially aware, and empowered youth population. She highlighted that the clinic would focus on essential areas of youth development, including:
•Mentorship and Role Models:
Students will discover the transformative impact of mentorship, learning the value of identifying and cultivating positive role models. This segment will also introduce peer mentorship programs, proven to be effective in youth development.
•Social Justice and Equity:
Through hands-on sessions, students will explore the importance of advocacy, especially for marginalized youth. Topics will include environmental justice and social equality, empowering students to become champions of change within their communities.
•Leadership and Civic Engagement:
By encouraging active participation in local governance, this segment will inspire students to engage in civic life, making their voices heard and contributing to community improvement
•Entrepreneurship and Economic Empowerment:
Students will receive guidance on how to develop their entrepreneurial ideas with mentorship support and learn about funding opportunities tailored to youth-driven enterprises, promoting economic empowerment.
•Substance Abuse Awareness:
This session will address the impact of substance abuse, offering students prevention strategies and the knowledge to navigate the challenges associated with substance use.
•Education and Skill Development:
Emphasizing vocational training, this area will provide students with practical skills to enhance future career opportunities, underscoring the importance of vocational skills for personal and community advancement.
Reflecting the Foundation’s long-term commitment to youth empowerment, Mrs. Atubi also announced the launch of a 3-month Leadership Clinic and a 1-year Mentoring and Mentorship Program. These initiatives will ensure continuous development and support for participating students, allowing them to grow into impactful leaders equipped to navigate challenges and contribute positively to society. Student leaders (Prefects and house captains) from 15 schools will participate in the event, according to the statement.
